Linda Chatterton, flutist from Minneapolis and pianist, Dr. Rex Woods, Vice Director of the University of Arizona School of Music, display their exceptional talents in concert Sunday, April 18, 2:30pm.

In addition to her concert schedule, Ms. Chatterton also is highly regarded for her insightful master classes, and serves as a mentor to music students at the University of Minnesota’s College of Liberal Arts. Ms. Chatterton often can be heard giving her motivational presentation “It Sounded Better at Home!’ based on her extensive work on the psychology of optimum performance. “It Sounded Better at Home!” will be released as a book in 2010. Her mastery of the instrument and her charming presentation have earned critical acclaim and appreciation described in flowery detail, but also more simply as illustrated by one commenting “I was not a flute enthusiast until I heard Linda. She changed my mind completely.” Another noted, “ the picture of professionalism – and that was before we heard a note.”

Dr. Woods, has performed throughout the world but is best known to regional audiences for his frequent artistic performances as both a soloist and chamber musician. He has been heard in concerto performances with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, the Catalina Chamber Orchestra and the University of Arizona Symphony Orchestra, and is a member of The Bruch Trio. Since 1988, he has taught at the University of Arizona.

A free will offering will be taken.

Vista is located two tenths mile south of Golder Rd. then west off Oracle.

The Wesley Foundation of U of A will hold a special musical concert! Students from the University of Arizona and Pima Community College will utilize their amazing talents and gifts creating beautiful, uplifting music. Their instruments and voices will inspire you! A love offering will be taken at the end of the concert with all contributions benefitting the Wesley Foundation’s upcoming mission trip.

In May, Wesley students will travel to NewYork City for an emersion experience with homeless through the Youth Service Outreach Project. Participating in this mission, students will not only have the opportunity to meet and work with the homeless, but also be educated about the many facets around homelessness in America and have the opportunity to hear about ways to alleviate it. Our own Lauren Lukas who grew up in this church will be participating in this mission experience.

The second concert of the new concept added to Vista de la Montana’s concert series occurs Sunday, February 21, at 2:30 pm. Four exceptionally gifted young Tucson area artists will individually perform a variety of compositions.

They follow a most energetic reception of last year’s young performers. An amazed audience then responded with tremendously enthusiastic appreciation for the talent and poise of the young artists. The young performers to be presented February 2 1 defy description and exhibit the gifts which have earned each, numerous awards and performances with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra..

Pianists Shelby Yuan, ,and Jinny Huh, formerly students of Angeline Ng, now study with professor Tannis Gibson at U of A. Shelby also plays harp with the Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra and violin with the Doolean Middle School Orchestra. She swims with the El Dorado Aquatics Club and loves painting, reading and math.

Jinny Huh, was born in Korea, began piano at six, and moved to Tucson at the age of eight. She plays the flute with school and Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestras.

Jinny admits to loving to hang out with her friends.

Charlene Kim began violin studies at age four. She studied with Wendy Sharp at Yale University Music School and presently studies with Steven Moeckel, Concert Master of the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra. Charlene serves as Concert Master of Tucson Philharmonia Youth Orchestra. She has trained for many years as a gymnast. She is also a skilled painter, winning awards in the 2009 Eighth Congressional District Art Competition and the 2008 and 2009 Duck Stamp Competitions. Her summer activities have included violin studies at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth. Miss Kim is considering college studies in medicine or the sciences.

Nicholas Mariscal, seventeen-year-old University High School senior, enjoys a passion for playing and composing classical music. He confesses to reluctantly agreeing, at age nine, to enroll in a keyboard class offered at his after school program. That program began his music career. Nicholas plays piano and cello and writes music for orchestra. He has won many awards and placed first in division 11 of the Tucson Symphony Young artist competition. Last summer Nicholas attended the Interlochen center for the Arts in Michigan where he was awarded the Emerson scholarship in recognition of his achievement in cello performance. His compositions have been performed on numerous occasions by the Tucson Symphony.

Among the compositions the audience will enjoy are those by composers Camille Siant-Saens, Edouard Lalo, Shostakovich, Beethoven, Chopin, Moszkowski, Ravel and Liszt.

A free will offering will be taken.

Vista de la Montana is located two-thirds mile So. of Golder Rd. then West off Oracle. www.vistaumc.com 825-1985
