Vista Vision
Vista has a Vision Statement that tells us who we are.
And we have a Mission Statement that tells us what we do.
The statements are different but certainly related. The Vision Statement, available to the whole church, was discerned very carefully by the Administrative Council and others who listened prayerfully to God’s definition of Vista, our identity and our basic values as a congregation of Christian people.
From that Vision Statement the following Core Values emerged, the basic ingredients of who we are as a community. Think of Core Values as our DNA, the genetic makeup of the congregation. These elements comprise the life blood of our future:
- Growth – a commitment to spiritual and numerical growth
- Family – an orientation that emphasizes the importance of families and the ways healthy families function
- Mission – a commitment to mission locally and beyond our neighborhood
- Spirituality – a fundamental belief in the Lordship of Jesus as head of the church
- Nurture – a desire to nurture spiritual growth in all age groups
- Equipping – a commitment to equip people for a variety of ministries
- Belonging – an understanding of congregation as “home” where everyone is welcome, included and valued
- Diversity – a commitment to live as a diverse congregation, one that represents all people in our community
The Vision Statement tells us who we are while the companion Mission Statement guides us into specific, practical ministries and activities that help us live out our Core Values in the community and the world.
What an exciting time to be part of Vista…a church with a Vision! Vista Vision!
