Dinner for 8

Who May Join:

This invitation is for couples or singles (singles do not need to find a partner), members or non-members.

When:

In the fall, each group meets once a month in Sept, Oct, Nov, and Dec. In the spring, new groups are formed and they meet once a month in Jan, Feb, Mar, and Apr. Each group determines the exact date they will meet and the rotation of who will host the dinner.

Who does the hosting?

Each couple or two singles host the dinner once. The host provides the main course and beverages. Other members bring appetizers, salads, desserts or other food as determined within that group. In some cases a group might choose to meet at a restaurant, each paying for their own dinner. Or, a couple may host a picnic, possibly meeting at the host’s home or at church for dessert. Some groups have even done a lunch. This program is very flexible.

How are groups formed?

Members are randomly put into groups of eight. Currently 137 people are participating.

Nifty 50s

The Nifty 50s fellowship group welcomes anyone with at least one spouse in their 50s. Contact Judi Nibbelink, 818-6766, or Mark Erickson, 818-3080 for more information.

United Methodist Men

The UMM is an active chartered group of men developing Christian friends through fellowship and projects. The regular meeting is the first Saturday of each month. The UMM sponsor a Boy Scouts of America Cub Pack, participate in the Adopt-a-Highway Program, provide the annual Valentine Dinner, help the Hispanic Mission project in Douglas, Arizona, and assist with the landscaping work at Vista.

United Methodist Women

The UMW emphasizes missions for women and children. Three Circle groups meet monthly for fellowship, devotions, and a program. Mary Martha meets the 4th Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Susanna Wesley meets the 3rd Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. Ruth meets the 2nd Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Unit meetings are quarterly.
