Mary Martha Circle Field Trip

On November 5th the Mary Martha Circle visited the Summer Linguistics Institute in Catalina. It is also known as Wycliffe Bible Translators. A very informative talk was given about the history of the group and their work around the  orld, but especially in Southern Mexico. It was pointed out that one would need to live among the people in their villages for about 4 yrs., and gain the confidence of one or two people to learn their language. Then an alphabet would need to be created, and from that a written language. Finally, after perhaps 5 yrs. or more you would then be able to start translating the Bible into their native language. One member of Mary Martha Circle, Joy Oram, was just such a person. It takes enormous dedication to translate the Bible into just one village language, let alone the numerous dialects that are present in Mexico. 

After this talk and tour, the group had refreshments while viewing a video about Youth Haven in Casa Grande, AZ, which Mary Martha helps as our Mission Outreach project.
