The University of Arizona’s HarpFusion  will premier it’s performance year at the opening concert of  Vista de la Montana’s Fine Arts series on November 16, at 2:30pm.

The group just returned from a “spectacular” concert tour of Austria, Holland, Belgium and Liechtenstein.  Upcoming performances include headlining the International Music Festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, in May of 2009.

Dr. Carrol McGlaughlin, director, is the recipient of the Fulbright Senior Scholars Program.  She has just completed a sabbatical which allowed her to teach at the Cairo Conservatory in Egypt as well as give solo recitals at the Cairo Opera House and the Library at Alexandria, Egypt.

McLaughlin has just received two outstanding University of Arizona awards:  The Henry and Phyllis Koffler Prize for Outstanding Teaching, and a Distinguished Professorship from the Board or Regents.

The November 16 program will feature pieces written and arranged by members of the group, including World Celebration Rag, Intermezzo from Cavaliera Rusticana,  and music from around the world including Africa, the West Indies, Egypt and Liberia.

Year after year each succeeding HarpFusion group amazes its audiences.
Admission to the concert is free.  A free-will offering will be taken.  Child care will be available.

The second concert in the Vista series will feature the Augsburg Centennial Singers on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 7:00 pm.
