Kindergarten – 3rd Grade Class: Jan-Feb, 2008

Posted: Sunday, December 30th, 2007, by admin

January through February 3, 2008, children will participate in the Power XPress! unit, “Jesus and the Children”. This unit uses the Bible story included in Mark 10:13-16. Jesus proclaimed through his words and actions that children are valued by God.  Children have important roles to play in the community of faith.  By the end of this unit, children will have had the opportunity to:

  • Hear the story of Jesus welcoming the children.
  • Experience being a valued part of the faith community.
  • See that we are all, young or old, children of God.
  • See that every person is someone of worth.
  • See that children have things to teach adults.

January 20, 2008
2:00 pmto4:00 pm

Award winning Minneapolis flutist Linda Chatterton teams with Carrol McLaughlin, chair of U of A harp department, in concert January 20, 2pm.

Each artist has performed throughout this country and internationally and both are recipients of numerous awards.

On a more personal note, Ms. McLaughlin, as a pre teenager, traveled 300 miles alone each week in her native Canada to take harp lessons. Her “Harp Fusion” group has appeared on the Vista Fine Arts series in the past to rousing ovations.

Ms. Chatterton has presented her motivational presentation “It Sounded Better at Home!” based on her extensive work on the psychology of optimum performance, all over the country to professional and amateur musicians alike.

Familiar melodies, flashy tangos, intricate music of JS Bach, Bernard Andres, and original compositions of the artists promise something for everyone.

Come and enjoy this charming, exceptional duo. No admission charge; free will offering taken.

Call 825-1985 for more information.
